Kevin Blackwell has been a steady voice for DeSoto and Marshall counties in the Mississippi Senate. His record of service and leadership reflects both strong conservative principles and a deep commitment to his community.

Kevin Blackwell is a successful small business owner being the founder, owner and/or co-owner of three Limited Liability Companies: DeSoto Imaging & Diagnostics dba DeSoto Imaging Specialists, a radiological diagnostic imaging company; DeSoto Medical Plaza a multi-tenant medical office complex; and The Wine Cellar.

Kevin has long been active in the Republican Party. He previously led the DeSoto County Republican Party as Chairman, served on the board of the DeSoto County Republican Club, and remains engaged through the DeSoto County Conservative Coalition and the Marshall County Republican Club. In 2012, he represented Mississippi as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Kevin’s collegiate achievements include an Associate in Arts degree from San Diego Mesa College, a Bachelor of Business Administration with an Emphasis in Health Services Management from National University, and a Master of Science in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia.

Kevin has a diverse professional healthcare career spanning almost 40 years beginning when he served four years Active Duty in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Kevin continued his clinical experience as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) while going to school but his leadership capabilities eventually guided him toward management positions within the healthcare industry. Kevin has senior management experience with minor medical treatment centers, durable medical equipment, homecare, hospice, family practice clinics, behavioral health hospitals, and acute care hospitals and medical imaging centers.

Giving back to the community has always been a belief that Kevin has strived to fulfill. Kevin has served as President of the Southaven Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club of Olive Branch, President of the Rotary Club of Southaven, a member of the Executive Board of the DeSoto County Economic Council and is a 1999 graduate of Leadership DeSoto. He was awarded the Southaven Chamber Ambassador of the Year in 2010, and is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. Kevin is currently a member of the following organizations: The Rotary Club of Southaven; Byhalia, Olive Branch and Southaven Chambers of Commerce; and Desoto County Economic Council.

A firm believer in our Second Amendment rights and an avid hunter, Kevin is a Lifetime Member of the NRA, a Lifetime Member of the North American Hunting Club, a Lifetime Member of Buckmasters, and a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Kevin and his wife Vicki are proud parents of three children; Victoria, Danielle and Keegan all who attend and graduated from DeSoto County Schools. The family is a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church.

IN THE SENATE

Since taking office in 2016, Kevin Blackwell has represented District 19, which covers parts of DeSoto and Marshall counties. In the Senate, he has earned a reputation as a strong conservative voice for North Mississippi, consistently working to protect taxpayers, uphold traditional values, and support policies that keep communities safe and prosperous. He has served on a wide range of committees, including Appropriations, Business & Financial Institutions, Elections, Public Health & Welfare, Insurance, Technology, and Accountability/Efficiency, giving him a broad platform to advance conservative priorities.

Blackwell has sponsored and co-authored legislation focused on strengthening local communities and supporting economic development. He played a role in securing bonds for critical projects such as an emergency response center to serve an industrial park in Marshall County, helping to drive growth and job opportunities. He has also supported infrastructure improvements, measures to cut government waste, and policies designed to promote a healthy business climate in DeSoto and Marshall counties. His record reflects a commitment to ensuring that North Mississippi remains a place where families and businesses can thrive.

Beyond legislation, Blackwell has worked to highlight and honor the people who make Mississippi strong. He has introduced numerous resolutions recognizing the achievements of law enforcement officers, student-athletes, local leaders, and community organizations. These efforts show his dedication not only to shaping policy in Jackson but also to celebrating the values, successes, and hard work of the people he serves. By keeping a steady focus on both conservative principles and local needs, Blackwell has built a record of service that resonates across his district.
